Inspire Me Thursday - "Square"
After (or is it Before!?) Illustration Friday
and the darker Illustration Friday Night
comes Inspire Me Thursday,
(another springboard for illustrative ideas).
I stumbled across it the other day, via IF*
http://inspiremethursday.com/
This/last weeks word was "Square"

oh hell
this is for a subject 2 weeks old
plus I promised no more
I apologize
in my defence
I'm just back from a week in Greece
and had to get this off my chest
Its the limited but expressive
Seventies Gay Disco Alphabet
( These days rarely used outside of Hen Nights
and the Brighton & Hove area )

Ok, ok, this is my last, promise!
When I first thought of the word 'Alphabets'
the NATO Phonetic Alphabet
(also known as the International Radiotelephony Spelling Alphabet,
or Police Alphabet)
sprung to mind
you know
Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta, Echo,Foxtrot, Golf etc
So here is my
T for Tango
a T for Two for sure
It would be great to see a few others in the series. Anyone?

Ok, this is a bit cheeky 'cos it doesn't directly relate to alphabets
but one of my favourite singers,
the late great french chanteur, 'tonton' Georges Brassens,
has been popping up on me iTunes all morning
just begging to be depicted.
have included the hand drawn lettering I've been using a lot lately

(In my defence, I don't think I'll get a chance to do this Friday's topic
so I'm crammin' 'em in now!)

Gouty Chap
Guardian Sport 5 Sept 07
A piece I've just this minute completed for tomorrow's Guardian Sports section.
The article is the symbolic significance of walking in sport
and in particular walking out
and more particular still
Roman Abramavich's recent walk out of a Chelsea ( the team he owns!) match half way through
Comparisions were made with Stalin walking out of Shostakovich's Lady MacBeth of Mtsensk,
afterwhich the composer was publicly lambasted by the government press.

Hot damn, I'm a sucker for a bad pun!
Not quite sure of the origins of this plea to check one's spelling, grammar and diction
(or is it etiquette. I can't think right now!?)
something to do with ancient British celtic linguistic variations I once heard (!??!)
anyway, here's my (pee) take on it

I'm really enjoying working in a limited palette
stripped back
just the marks as they were made
it all their glorious simplicity
their happy accidents
particularly enjoying the different sort of marks created by dip pen nibs and brushes.
up to now I've been using black ink and colouring it up in PS
this is the real McCoy
bought over the weekend
real red ink!
