Tote Bag design #1
I've actually been going longer than that! Poetic license, let's say.

Benjamin Franklin
A character who fascinates me. Author, printer, satirist, political theorist, politician, scientist, inventor, civic activist, statesman, soldier, and diplomat - there's barely a pie in his day in which he did not have a finger.
That said, I think I have his alledged lightning experiment a little wrong here - apparantly the key was on the kites's tail and not its main string.

Computing Which?
A piece about networking PCs and Macs - for the Jan 2010 issue of Computing Which?.
The Art Director, Mark Massey, himself a very talented photographer, wanted a generally muted image so that the two logos stood out. I chose a soft sepia palette.

Daily Mail - Autumn
Christmas on Cheshire St, e2
Here's my design for the late night shopping on Cheshire St, London E2 - just off the top end of Brick Lane.
The design is based on Czech gingerbread or speculaas moulds. I was keen to avoid the more obvious seasonal clichés and wanted something with more of a Anglo-European look than the dominant and all-pervasive US traditions that bombard us.

Tweed Cyclng Club
A design I was asked to produce by Jack Thurston, friend and founder/ secretary of the Tweed CC.
We are currently in the process of getting these letterpress printed onto heavy grey stock by my friend and fellow Walthamstovian Stephen Kenny - www.atwopipeproblem.com - check out his site.
Café Gallery Projects - Baker's Dozen
A flyer I was asked to design for a forthcoming show at the Café Gallery in Southwark Park, the fourth in a series curated this year by Liz Murray and Clare Goodwin.
The title text is Braggadacio - I love the way the number 13 has here created a very convincing B for BAKER'S DOZEN!
The preview is Sunday 8 November, the weekend after next. See you there.

Illustration Friday - "Flying" #3
Another image created for IF*
This time P L Travers formidable nanny Mary Poppins, flying through the sky on the East Wind.
I read the books as a kid and loved them - much better and madder and somehow darker than the Disney adaptation. Check them out. And check out the lady who wrote them - an amazing lady who lead an incredible life.
The image was created using an edding 1800 profipen 0.3 and brush and ink, coloured up and composited in PS.

Restaurant Magazine - Nov '09
A piece I've just done for the November issue of Restaurant's City section.
Here the author looks at predictions for the economy and whether or not the recession is over or just on a ledge. Whichever way you look at it it seems there's no real way to know.

Guardian Money -25 July 09
A piece I've just finished ( and indeed started!) today, for this Saturday's Guardian Money section front cover, for the delightful Sarah Habershon.
The subject was the Cash ISAs currently on offer - many are not nearly as good as they seem, and other, better, ways of saving are available.
