A Gift for a Friend
A Gift for a Friend
My friend and neighbour Mr William Brown had a birthday recently and I customised this cup and vintage french plate for him by way of a present. As well as a gift it was also a good opportunity for me to experiment with firing transfers onto other ceramic surfaces.
Will, who is one half of Old Town clothing, is a keen railway enthusiast and so I have decorated his crocks with a personalised steam-train.
For now I have taken a stylised acorn with my initials within as a maker's mark.
I am very pleased with the results and intend to pursue this line further. Watch this space.

British Beef (screen print)
British Beef (screen print)
My latest limited edition screen print is a celebration of good British Beef and shows a fine Hereford bull lead, appropriately, by Mr. John Bull, an embodiment of Great Britain (and England in particular) since the early 1700s and a figure in need of some cultural rehabilitation. This handsome pair stand amid the beautiful rolling countryside of Herefordshire on the english-welsh border.

My Love in her Attyre
Anonymous
My latest limited edition screen-print is based upon the words of an anonymous Elizabethan madrigal that I stumbled upon as a youth, and inspired by Medieval manuscript illumination and C17th stump-work embroidery.
The print features a pair of lovers in playful pursuit, lost in the branches of a fecund forest ripe with fruits, flowers and foliage. The poem floats in a heart-shaped clearing above them surrounded by a host of birds, bugs and other woodland creatures, whilst cupid, bow and arrow in hand, looks down from on high.
Available in two colourways, a soft pink and a vibrant green, the print is A3 (42 cm high by 30 across - a standard frame-size) and in a strictly limited edition of 30 per colourway. Printed on 300 gsm paper the print can be yours (or your loved one's!) for £75 + P&P and is available for purchase from my Etsy shop and other reputable outlets.
