Illustration Friday - "Multiple"
These guys are part of the Finnish Football team,
shown sweating it out in that favourite pastime of the good people of Suomi, the Sauna -
part of a project I was v recently asked to be involved with, a follow up to the very successful 2006 Football Heroes.

Guardian Education 26 February 08
Another piece to accompany Teacher of the Year, Phil Beadle's column.
This one is about the use of Neuro-Linguistic Programming, or NLP, in Education.
Mister Beadle is not a fan, and neither am I. Horse-shit and Mind-Games basically.
In the article our Phil suggests slapping dog poo on the lapel of any colleague
daring to use this technique on you - with the bold retort "Mirror that!"

Illustration Friday - "Choose"
When I thought of the word 'Choose'
the following things came to mind in the following order
Sophie's Choice
Hobson's Choice
(the first one too grim and the second an unknown quantity to me)
and then those proverbial extremes
of little or no choice
A Rock and a Hard Place
Out of the Frying Pan, Into the Fire
Between Two Stools
and this
Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea

Greek Urn #1
What's a Greek Urn?
About 40 drachma a week!
(sorry, old Music Hall joke)
This is a little experiment I just cooked up this morning
to see if I could re=create the look of a fragment of ancient Greek pottery.
What do you think?
Can anyone tell me who the fruity chap portrayed is? Answers on a postcard...

Lent
A Typographical experiment
I'm not a religious person, not at all,
but I was raised a very devout Roman Catholic
and still have an affection for the litany of feast days and observances that mark the turning of the seasons.
Today is Ash Wednesday
and the start of Lent.
I'm giving up sugar, cakes and sweets
in a bid to lose my winter blubber.
I need to after the glut of pancakes I wolfed down last night!

Illustration Friday - "Blanket"
Ok, not strictly a blanket as such
but a rug is close enough for a busy week, n'est-pas?
This is another detail from a series I was asked to do on the subject of Negotiation
- here a Morrocan carpet salesman and a European traveller strike a deal over the price of a handwoven rug and a glass of thé a la menthe.
